Every whisky's journey is unique
how it works
During maturation the "angels' share" evaporates from the cask. On average a 60-litre cask yields 100 bottles of finished whisky; from a 30-litre cask we guarantee at least 45 bottles. The amount can vary with the cask, the maturation time and the angels.

Choose a cask
Get a 30- or 60-litre oak cask of whisky spirit from the Kyrö distillery in Isokyrö – on your own or together with friends, colleagues or family.

Follow the maturation
During the 3–5 years of maturation we hold a tasting twice a year, where you can follow the spirit turning into whisky.

Bottling and your own name
After three years of maturation, the bottling time is decided together with Kyrö's whisky team. Once the whisky is ready, you choose a name for it to be printed on the label.

Collection from Alko
The whisky is delivered to an Alko store of your choice in Finland. The alcohol duty is paid directly to Alko when you collect it.

Tastings
along the way
As a cask owner, you get to taste the whisky from your own cask as it matures. We hold a tasting once a year as its own event, and the second tasting always takes place at Kyröfest.
At the tastings you can follow how the spirit turns into whisky year by year – and when the time is right, you decide on bottling and the text printed on the label together with our whisky team.

Kyrö New American Oak 30L
This 30-litre oak cask is perfect for a smaller group.
Casks are available filled with unsmoked or smoked rye spirit. For the smoked ones, you can choose between alder smoke and peat smoke.

The peppery bite of rye, nectarine fruitiness and the toasted oak of the cask are typical of these casks. The taste profile depends on the spirit you choose.
Rye grown in Finland's harsh conditions has a small but flavourful grain. We never filter the rye at any stage, so we get all the flavour out of the wholegrain rye.

Kyrö Peat Smoke 60L
Peat from Finnish bogs gives the whisky a slightly resinous peat smoke that lingers long after the sip. The intense, smoky experience is balanced by Kyrö's typical broad rye bread character and the caramel and vanilla of new American oak.

Kyrö Oloroso 60L
Oloroso is a balanced sherry from under the Spanish sun. The Oloroso cask brings nuttiness, smoothness and richness to the whisky. The sweetness of rye and the nuttiness of sherry complement each other.

Taste profile
The palate opens with deep, rich notes of sweet rye bread and rustic baked aromas. These meet the softness of honey and the subtle sweetness of raisins, balancing the profile. Nutty notes carry through until a peppery edge wakes up the taste buds towards the end, leaving a powerful but pleasant finish.

Kyrö PX & Smoke 60L
Pedro Ximénez is a sweet sherry from under the Spanish sun. PX gives whisky a sweeter edge – dried dates, brown sugar and a more wine-like character. This sweetness works beautifully with alder-smoked spirit.

Kyrö Malt is a whisky made from Finnish malted rye. It matures in new 60-litre American white oak casks for 3–5 years.

Kyrö Smoke is a whisky made from Finnish wholegrain rye smoked in a traditional drying barn. It matures in a new 60-litre American white oak cask for 3–5 years.

The whisky matures in a 200-litre cask that previously held American bourbon. The cask leaves room for the rye and brings fresh fruitiness to the whisky as it matures.

Kyrö Ex-sherry
We've released cask A5103, filled in November 2019. Its impressive 500-litre size might be too much even for the most devoted whisky fan, so we split it into 15 shares. This single cask whisky with notes of Spanish sherry is now available.

Malty, spicy rye, soft oak and juicy, rich sweetness are typical of Kyrö's sherry casks.
Contract for a cask share (shared cask).
Intense, spicy Finnish rye, softening pot distillation and a robust sherry cask make a spicy, malty whisky with notes of rich sherry.

Did you know?
The angels’ share
During maturation, around 3–6% of the liquid evaporates from a small cask each year for the angels to enjoy. The oak also absorbs 5–10%, giving flavour to the whisky in return. After four years of maturation, about 75% of the original fill is left in the cask.
